Event WiFi in North Sydney and across the North Shore

From office towers in North Sydney and Chatswood to school halls in Wahroonga, North Shore jobs are mostly about lots of people working online at once in buildings that weren't sized for it.

Quick answer

Event WiFi on the North Shore usually means three kinds of job: corporate training days and offsites in North Sydney, St Leonards, Chatswood and Macquarie Park; school and community-hall events where the existing network can't take guests; and private events at home. We size WiFi for everyone online at once, keep guests separate from staff and school systems, and install and pack down with our Sydney team.

The North Shore area we cover

The North Shore runs from Milsons Point, North Sydney and Neutral Bay up through Crows Nest, St Leonards, Artarmon and Chatswood, then along the upper North Shore through Pymble, Turramurra and Wahroonga to Hornsby, with Lane Cove, Mosman and Macquarie Park either side. It mixes commercial towers, leafy residential streets, schools and community halls, and each needs a different plan.

Training days in Chatswood and North Sydney: capacity before coverage

A 60-person training room in a North Sydney or Macquarie Park office is small enough to cover easily, but every attendee logs in, opens cloud apps and joins video at the same moment. At 1.5–2 devices each that is 90–120 devices, or two to three access points at about 50 devices each. A video call needs about 1.5 Mbps each way per person, so upload matters as much as download. Our training and workshop WiFi page walks through the sizing, or run your numbers through the event network planner.

Before running event WiFi at a North Shore school

Schools have their own IT rules; our school event WiFi page covers campus events in more depth.

  • Ask the school's IT team whether outside equipment can be installed
  • Keep visitor WiFi completely separate from the school network
  • Put stall EFTPOS terminals on their own payment network
  • Confirm where power is available in halls, courts and ovals
  • Agree setup and pack-down times around school hours
  • Check whether anything may be fixed to older or heritage buildings

Questions people ask

Do you provide event internet in Chatswood and North Sydney?

Yes. Chatswood, North Sydney, St Leonards and Macquarie Park are local jobs for our Sydney-based team. Typical work there is training days, offsites and launches in office buildings and function rooms, where we size WiFi for everyone being online at once and keep staff and guest networks separate.

Can you set up WiFi for a school fête or open day on the North Shore?

Yes. For a school fête or open day, we set up visitor WiFi and a separate payment network for stalls, kept apart from the school's own network, and agree setup times and power positions with the school. Outdoor areas such as ovals and courts use weather-rated access points.

How many access points does a 60-person training day need?

A 60-person training day usually needs two to three access points. Working attendees carry 1.5–2 devices each, so 60 people means 90–120 devices, and our starting point is about 50 devices per access point. Walls, room shape and video use are confirmed at the venue before the number is final.

Is home internet enough for a party or family event?

Sometimes. Home internet can be enough for music and a photo booth, but a live stream to family overseas needs steady upload that many home plans don't have. We check what the home connection can do first and add a 4G/5G router or extra WiFi only where it's needed. See private event WiFi.

Can a community hall on the North Shore stream services or meetings?

Usually, with a little planning. A community hall stream needs 10–20 Mbps of steady upload and a wired connection at the camera or laptop. If the hall's internet can't provide that, we bring a dedicated connection and keep the stream separate from any guest WiFi in the room.
